Attraction Listing Description: One of only three National Parks located in Washington state, the Olympic National Park is by far the largest (nearly 1 million acres) and is home to numerous species of animals, marine mammals, birds, and plants. The park’s rugged mountains transition to lush old-growth rain forest and onto rocky seashores, with 95% of the park designated as wilderness. You can spend days gazing at glaciers, streams, lakes, waterfalls, wildflowers and wildlife. The park boasts a 73-mile stretch of pure wilderness coastline—one of the longest undeveloped coasts in the lower 48 states —and a marine sanctuary that is about twice the size of the park itself. The park is open year-round with summer providing plenty of opportunities for high alpine hikes (over 600 miles of trails!). Come winter, the snow usually stays in the higher elevations of the park providing wintertime fun and snow sports like skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and sledding.
