Looking for a small town to root down during your retirement years? Consider Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula. Port Angeles, Washington made the list for 8 Invigorating Outdoorsy Towns in the June 2017 issue of Where to Retire magazine.
“You like water? There’s plenty of it…You like mountains? We have some of the best”, according to Frank Piccola, a Sacramento, California transplant who moved here in 2014. “Port Angeles itself is kind of a low-key, funky old timber town…but its cultural reputation is growing.”
The Piccola’s decided to make the move after visiting during Port Angeles’ Juan de Fuca Arts Festival in May and the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival in October. They were sold on the city’s “community spirit as well as its proximity to awe-inspiring scenery.”
